Movie Time!!!

I was a big fan of movies till I was tied down in a certain institution whereby whenever I feel like going for a movie, I will have to consider others. Obviously, financial wise will be on me and cost of going for a movie tripled. So I stopped going.

But now, I feel that going for movies is the only time I break free from my crazy daily schedule and no point catching it on DVDs because I would not have time otherwise to watch it. So, I have been succumbing to my daughter's wishes to each time she mentions movie. And this month, we set a new record of the most movie time in the month.

It started with Rango, a household pet goes on an adventure to find true self. Starring the voice of Johnny Depp, Rango is a lizard. Funny character who was accidently tossed out from his human car and end up in a desert.

Next, we went to a local production, KRU Motion Pictures, a historical movie called Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa. According to Wiki, HMM is an ancient Malay literature that chronicles the bloodline of Merong Mahawangsa and the foundation of Kedah, a state in Malaysia. This epic action adventure is directed by Yusry A. Halim. Although there is quite an improvement in Yusry's CGI work, certain scenes could be better especially the war scenes looks empty.

And whoever wrote the script should have done more research on the language used in the film. I highly doubt that the word "TUDUNG SAJI" was used during Merong Mahawangsa times.

Lots of talk with regards to the way Merong talks, but if we consider that he has been away and not speaking in Malay for a long time, to me it was understandable. Nevertheless, the Nanny character was hilarious and I commend her for her acting.

Then we went to see Sucker Punch. Well, actually my daughter wanted to see Mars Needs Mom but the show is airing a bit too late that night so I decided to watch Sucker Punch instead.

Sucker Punch is an action epic fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl, Baby Doll, whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. She has been locked in an asylum against her will by her step father who was after her and her sister's inheritance. Although locked in, she did not lose her will to survive.

Lots of action, sexy girls fight scenes in her attempt to free herself and fellow inmates. But at the end, she gave up her chance of being free to free her comrade, Sweet Pea. No regrets there. After the lack of action in Merong, Sucker Punch gave me my adrenalin boost. But I just can't get over the whiteness of Baby Doll.

And today, we have just came back from watching Mars Needs Moms. It's on 3D and we had fun trying to catch small items that was "thrown out" from the screen. The cinema was practically empty, just me & my daughter and another family of 5.

Nine year old Milo finds out how much he needed his mom after she was nabbed by Martians who planned to steal her mom-ness for their own young.

Overall, it was good and my daughter just cemented the fact that there is no living without me being around. She actually clung on to me till we got home, even holding my hand while I drove.

The ending showed scenes from the making and it was interesting how similar the character to the actual actor / actress and how cute the "monkey dance".

I can foresee many more movie dates with my daughter from on as Hop, Kung Fu Panda2, Paul, Never Say Never - JB, Red Riding Hood as well as local movies like Karak and Cun are coming up soon.

Till then bloggers.... Ciou!

Extraordinary Fun!!!

Good bright and shining morning bloggies!

It was a fun-tastic day today. Took break from work to accompany my daughter to her school carnival. As I sat here I realized, I have not been at a school PTA carnival that was so organised, exciting, plenty of things to do and food to eat. Sitting at the canteen, watching the children and their parents going around, enjoying themselves made me miss my eldest son. He would have enjoyed these kinds of carnival but every time his former school arranged a PTA carnival, normally it feels like it was done half heartedly, no excitement and poor participation from vendors. It feels more like teachers having a profit making day because almost all the teachers will have a booth of sorts, including selling high-priced tasteless food and drinks. But here, I know, if he was here he would have enjoyed this carnival so much. My daughter is lucky.

As I step in to my daughter's carnival, the feeling was very different. The event is from 8am-5pm and at 8.15am when we arrived, majority of the stalls are opened, food abundance and had my fill of breakfast with the second best tasting Singapore Fried Bee-hoon I've ever tasted. (Mom's no 1). The food here are crazy, mouth-watering, finger-licking, enticing, diet-busting, mind-blowing temptations. My jaws dropped seeing a plate of warm melted chocolate-coated marshmallow sticks placed on the table by a student in front of me, each bite so juicy and chocolatey, such a tempting sight only to be reminded by my stinging tooth that is crying for me to go to the dentist.

As I typed my journal, the entertainment section came on with a beautiful presentation of Ngajat fusion, a Sarawak cultural dance by the students and some students singing latest popular song. I understand that there will be some local artiste including the popular nasyid group Hijjaz. Stalls, other than food includes, publisher of Ana Muslim, a popular Islamic girls magazine (which I hope to cultivate my daughter's interest in it rather than boys version such as Upin & Ipin and Ben 10), pony riding with 3 beautiful brown ponies!!, a huge inflatable castle of bouncing fun, a mini go-cycle track that looks like go-kart but you'll be cycling with paddles about the same level as your body and rows of booths of carnival funfair-like games that reminds me of my late stepmother and how she enjoys the fun fairs.

I wished I could post photos of the carnival but unfortunately the camera button on my hand phone is out of order (giving me one more good reason to buy a new hand phone). So I hope that my journal is descriptive enough for you dear bloggers to imagine. Meanwhile, work is calling! Take care and see you again soon!

Critical Writing...

Hola Bloggies!

Today is Mid Exam Day!!! Was I ready for it??? HELL NO!!

Everything was in a mess the whole week. The more I reminded myself that exam is coming up, the more other things crop up till I couldn't find the time to even look at the schedule, what more doing revision. Everything else needed my immediate attention. Work pressing. Heart caring. Health warning. Overall, stressful week.

But things turned worse and out of hand yesterday, I feel like walking out and just leave everything. I started my day at 6am, was scheduled for work at 9am. My lines are one after another page, like close to 70% of the script and have been that way for the last 2 days. The translated script were like &$#@!!! I have to amend and add almost every line for every character until I almost blow up at the technician. Not to mention my own weakness and a new technician. Finally, it took me 2 1/2 hours to complete 1 episode.

Looking at my watch, I know I could not complete the other episode in time so I left to pick up my daughter. Coming back, the Madam was still dubbing and she was fussing about a word I used. The problem is that word was an issue before, and when I used the corrected word, she claims that it was out of context and keep blaming me because since I have used that word, she used it as well and we had to re-dub the lines. Not enough with the fussing, Madam went on to make some harsh remarks which was intended to me to some other dubbers when I was still there!! I was trying so hard to keep cool and left without even dubbing when it's time to collect my daughter back from school as she was still stuck in the studio.

Went back, had early dinner, I planned to go back to studio after Maghrib prayers. My mistake, while waiting for the Azan, I lie awhile & stretched myself... Next thing I know, it was almost 1 am. No calls received as my handphone battery went dead. Rushed out from the house only to realize that I have left my bag with fresh change of clothes and pencil case behind. Went to the studio, fearing the wrath of Madam as she might tried to call me. Charged the phone and was surprised that nobody called!!! Wow! That's a first. Usually Madam will call or send a message if she wants me at the studio but couldn't get me or if I haven't finish. I kept quiet, spent another 3 hours on dubbing of 1 episode, ending at 4 am.

Once I finished, Madam told me that I have to help her with urgent translation. The key word here is HAVE TO! Ha ha ha! No wonder there were no calls or nasty remarks about my disappearing act! Hah! Turn a sweet face when you want something right??? Blah!

Anyway, I went back to my mom's place, did my revision while doing laundry. My mom... my angel... my idol, its her utmost happiness when I told her that I am studying again, so nicely made me breakfast :) I take it as her showing her support for me taking exam today.

Finished hanging laundry at 8.15 am. Stop by at Petronas looking for 2B pencil. NO PENCIL! Looked at the time then, oh no! Time to FLY to P.J for exam at 9 am. Luckily, Rosma was my savior for the day. She borrowed me her pencil. I felt like in primary school again. Ha ha ha!

So now, I am waiting for another paper. Writing this as part of my Critical Writing subject. I pushed away work aside for now because at this moment... I AM A STUDENT!
